What Causes a Puffy Face, and When Drainage Helps

Most everyday facial puffiness is fluid that collects overnight or after a salty dinner, a glass of wine, a short night, a long flight, allergies or the days before a period. That kind of puffiness comes and goes, and it is what facial lymphatic drainage is suited to: light strokes that guide fluid toward the nodes of the neck may help the face look less puffy within the session.

Swelling that appears suddenly, sits on one side, comes with pain, redness, fever or trouble breathing, or never goes away is a reason to see a doctor, not to book a massage.
